Legal Collections Clerk

Are you a Legal Collections Clerk with 2+ years of experience managing legal debt recovery files in Ontario? Our client, a well-established law firm in Markham, is seeking a professional and organized individual to support their growing collections litigation team.

This is a full-time, in-office position suited for a self-starter who understands the legal collections process, including demand letters, Small Claims Court procedures, and enforcement of judgments.

🔍 Key Responsibilities:

• Draft and send demand letters and collection correspondence

• Prepare and file Small Claims Court documents, including Plaintiff’s Claims, Default Judgments, and Garnishments

• Track deadlines, limitation periods, and court appearances

• Liaise with debtors, clients, court staff, and process servers

• Maintain and update collections databases, file records, and follow-up schedules

• Support lawyers and paralegals with preparation of documentation for legal enforcement

• Monitor payment arrangements and initiate follow-up collection steps

✅ Required Qualifications:

• 2+ years of experience in legal collections or a debt recovery legal environment

• Strong understanding of Ontario Small Claims Court procedures and collection enforcement options

• Familiarity with court e-filing systems, legal software, and MS Office

• Law Clerk Diploma or related legal/collections education is preferred

• Excellent communication skills—both written and verbal

• High attention to detail and ability to manage deadlines in a fast-paced environment
