We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Labour & Employment Legal Assistant to join our legal team in Calgary. This role involves providing comprehensive support to our labour and employment attorneys, handling a variety of tasks related to employment law matters, and ensuring efficient operation of the legal office. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, have excellent communication skills, and possess a strong understanding of labour and employment law procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist lawyers in the preparation and management of labour and employment law files.
Draft, edit, and file legal documents, including employment contracts, termination letters, and legal memos.
Schedule and organize meetings, appointments, and court dates.
Maintain and update client files and case management systems.
Communicate with clients, providing updates and gathering necessary information.
Conduct legal research related to labour and employment law cases.
Manage correspondence, including emails and phone calls, with clients, courts, and opposing counsel.
Handle administrative tasks such as document filing, photocopying, and office organization.
Qualifications:
Diploma or certificate in legal assistant studies, paralegal studies, or a related field.
6+ years of experience as a legal assistant, preferably in labour and employment law.
Knowledge of legal procedures and documentation specific to labour and employment law.
Proficient in Microsoft Office and legal management software.
Excellent organizational, communication, and time-management skills.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining confidentiality.
