We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Labour & Employment Legal Assistant to join our legal team in Calgary. This role involves providing comprehensive support to our labour and employment attorneys, handling a variety of tasks related to employment law matters, and ensuring efficient operation of the legal office. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, have excellent communication skills, and possess a strong understanding of labour and employment law procedures.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist lawyers in the preparation and management of labour and employment law files.

  • Draft, edit, and file legal documents, including employment contracts, termination letters, and legal memos.

  • Schedule and organize meetings, appointments, and court dates.

  • Maintain and update client files and case management systems.

  • Communicate with clients, providing updates and gathering necessary information.

  • Conduct legal research related to labour and employment law cases.

  • Manage correspondence, including emails and phone calls, with clients, courts, and opposing counsel.

  • Handle administrative tasks such as document filing, photocopying, and office organization.

Qualifications:

  • Diploma or certificate in legal assistant studies, paralegal studies, or a related field.

  • 6+ years of experience as a legal assistant, preferably in labour and employment law.

  • Knowledge of legal procedures and documentation specific to labour and employment law.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and legal management software.

  • Excellent organizational, communication, and time-management skills.

  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining confidentiality.
